Welcome to Second Grade! My name is Karen Reed. I have taught Second Grade at Bradley Elementary for 23 years. I am originally from the state of Delaware . I graduated from James Madison University in Virginia . After graduation I became a military spouse and moved to Ft. Benning , Georgia . After that I taught in North Carolina , Germany and then I finally moved to Kansas . I now call Kansas home. I received my Master's Degree right here in Kansas from Baker University .
I believe that all children can learn, with the support of the family and school. I look forward to working with parents to create the best educational program for each child. I love to read and my goal is to help children develop a lifelong love of reading. I stress the importance of Math to my Second Graders. We do “ Daily Problem Solving Activities” to help further critical thinking and I challenge the students daily to master their Math Facts, using the “Mad Minute Race”.
I believe Second Graders need to develop strong study habits to help prepare them for the future grade levels. Students will have homework throughout the week.
Last, but not least, I support using Bradley's Lifelong Guidelines to help students learn how to become responsible and caring students, as they grow and learn in our “ Garden of Learners ”.
